Student Party Twente is a dedicated political organization representing the interests of students at the University of Twente. We are commited to preserve a good and honest student life. Please do consider supporting us and our cause.
We believe in empowering students to voice their opinions and influence decision-making at the university.
We promote an international community that welcomes everyone regardless of background.
We think that the best way for the university councilors to be elected, is through their stances on different subjects. Not based on connections.
A lot of student politics at the UT feels stuck. Same discussions, same cautious conclusions, with very little actually changing. The Student Party Twente is here to break that pattern by actually trying to get things done.
Food on campus is too expensive. It shouldn’t be a luxury to just grab lunch between lectures. We want to explore and push for a university-owned catering company. Less profit-driven, more focused on accessibility, fair prices, and decent quality.
We know from other universities that this is achievable.
Furthermore, we would like to explore the possibility of two supermarkets coexisting. Let them compete on price.
Instead of guessing what students want, we’ll ask regularly. Not just surveys no one hears about, but visible, accessible opinion polls focused on only the big and polarizing topics.
No complicated systems, just a simple way for students to say: this is what we think. The council should not ignore that.
We get that O&O is a good hub for certain activities which would definitely destroy grass, the obvious alternative to gravel. But even so, it just looks horrible, especially in the winter. We opt for more flowers and more green in a grey world. We also think that bicycles are a good form of decoration, which will benefit the square's liveability as well.
Let us forget all government and focus on what lies in our power: Lobbying and providing housing on university terrain.
Build, build, build! Build towards a better campus!
We would like to lend out a helping hand to the struggling international student wherever possible. For example, we found that international students need to pay tons of money. We would like to offer them our helping hand in financial needs by implementation of a waiver for the smartest international students.
There are some very crowded transportation lines between Vrijhof and O&O amongst others. We would like to add some pavements so that cyclists and pedestrians can coëxist peacefully.
Looking at other universities in Europe we found that there are better options to choose from than the current timetable-system.
We would like to radically reform the way timetables are presented to the students so that we will know earlier when what subject is given. E.g. timeslots “A, B, C,...” accompanied with “Calculus 1, Calculus 2,…” so you can depend on the fact that the “A” will always be given on monday mornings and thursdays afternoon.
We would like to offer more jobs to students. There are multiple ways we could do this, amongst others:
- More TA's
- Jobs in the catering services we would like to replace
- University help in providing the right sidejobs
We think that a healthy lifestyle is a fundamental part of student lifetimes.
In this order we would push for a bigger and broader gym area. The current one is not up to date with the 21st century demand.
You are locked in, studying at the university library. Then you get that awful sound telling you to kindly leave. We opt for 24/7 opening hours during the exam weeks. So you can pass all your courses.
We’re not pretending to fix everything overnight. But we are here to make sure things finally start moving again. And if that means challenging the “way things have always been done”, that’s exactly the point.
Vote for change.
Vote the Student Party Twente.
Because we put the Students first.
